Mixposure
Please be sure to listen to the Audio Interview with Mark we did a few months back Here

Mixposure:
Mark thanks so much for sitting down with us! Let me start by asking, what got you into playing music?

Mark Cloutier:   I was getting bored of athletics i suppose--needed a new challenge--saw this fella playing guitar when i was a freshmen in high school--he was sitting on the floor playing eddy van halen riffs-- iwalked over to him and listened for a while--think i fell in love with the guitar then--he was selling the guitar it was an old halifax gibson les paul copy--i begged my parents for the money--they gave in and the rest is history!

Mixposure:   Who were your influences when you were just starting as opposed to now?

Mark Cloutier:
Early years my influences were jeff beck, jimmy page, eric clapton, and jimi hendrix---then along came stevie ray vaughn and i went back wards from there--freddy king, albert king, buddy guy,bb king, ronnie earl, duke robillard, muddy waters, howling wolf,etc.-- so on so forth!!

Mixposure:  How did the band come up with the name Double Barrel Blues Band?

Mark Cloutier:   We sat around and brain stormed--had the two guitar things going on--we figured a double barreled attack spraying those guitar notes everywhere--we jammed alot early on--now songs are becoming a priority!

?

Mixposure:  Can you tell us a ittle about the Double Barrel Blues Band?

Mark Cloutier:  5 years with bill and garnett!!3 years with john--an absolute pleasure playing with these talented fellas--i plugged them at the end of this interview!

Mixposure:  You have been getting a lot of attention lately, is success spoiling you?

Mark Cloutier:  no--i work hard everyday cause i feel i need to keep getting better--so much talent out there!

Mixposure:  If there was an artist you personally could perform with who would it be and why?

Mark Cloutier:   jimi hendrix-stevie ray- but, i dont think its going to happen in this life--

Mixposure:  What do you do when you are not playing out?

Mark Cloutier:   record at home--practice a few hours per day--spend time with my family--work--love to practice martial arts!

Mixposure:   How do you write your music?

Mark Cloutier:  I tend to come up with a musical idea based around the guitar--then i build from there--write words if i feel i can sing it--sometimes i give it over to a band mate to sing--depends--i sing 3 of my own tunes at our gig and have written several instrumentals!!

Mixposure:   Where have you performed? Do you have any upcoming shows?

Mark Cloutier:   Best go to www.doublebarrelbluesband.com schedule--you can read our press and follow our schedule!!

Mixposure:  What was the best and worst venue you have played and why?

Mark Cloutier:   Man,one of the best venues i have played would be the new york state blues fest main stage some years back-huge stage and large crowd---we played the festival last year on hanover stage which was'nt the main stage but still cool as hell!the Blues in the Bay fest in Alexandria Bay N.Y. is a close second i would say--we have been regulars there for the past 4 years so that gig is closest to my heart!

The worst venue be a mall we played many years ago--getting our equipment up 4 flights of stairs and playing at a whisper sucked--we played a bowling alley for a bunch of unappreciative rednecks many years ago--that sucked as well.. we survived without a brawl--ha ha

Mixposure:  What's your favorite song from the new cd?

Mark Cloutier:   Hmmmm. Wine Wine Wine was a blast to play and its so upbeat and energetic! I'ts a cover tune that we did completely our own way in studio-in fact, i have never heard the original version!

Mixposure:   How was the CD recorded?

Mark Cloutier:   The cd was recorded a couple different ways--all live--two cuts-b flat bone boogie and matchbox we used from the lowville festiville we played a year ago,and we recently recorded at my friend's studio--(Anelli Productions)-by way of logic pro--we miced everything--live takes--we dubbed some backups on wine wine wine and i punched in a guitar intro on "the restless one" and "if you find im gone!"

Mixposure:   What songs on the cd are getting the most buzz?

Mark Cloutier:   All of them!! ha ha--seems Wine Wine Wine is killer for a party time song--some real kick ass slow tunes-"Whiskey blues" and "Tin Pan Alley" have raised a few eyebrows--"Bad Bad Bad" feeling is a terrific song that our bass man wrote and we, as a band, added our own unique things to!Voodoo Thing also seems to be a good one especially live! I wrote and sang my own tunes on this cd as well--"If you find im gone" and "flipping and flapping"...also an instrumental i wrote -"b flat bone boogie"--some neat live jump blues with a cool arrangement..john wrote a cool one called "restless one"--people seem to dig it!

Mixposure:   Where can we buy the cd?

Mark Cloutier:   Right now --Kunaki.com,at our gigs, and you can email me and i will send a copy by mail--cd baby in the near future!!

In closing i would like to give my band mates a huge plug!!
